Diesel Truck Repair Services

These are the diesel truck repair services we perform on Ford Powerstroke, Chevy and GMC Duramax and Ram Cummins pickups, from limp mode diagnosis to transmission work. We take on the problems other shops and dealers could not solve, and we test for the cause before anything gets replaced.

Start with what the truck is doing

Pick the symptom closest to yours. The diagnosis still decides the repair.

Fuel pressure, a stuck turbo vane, a plugged DPF or a bad sensor. Clearing the code does not fix what set it.

Group 1 / Diesel repair

Diesel repair services

Engine, fuel, air, exhaust and transmission work. Each page covers symptoms, testing and options.

01

Diesel diagnostics

Limp mode, check engine lights, smoke, hard starts and the intermittent fault nobody else could catch.

Diesel diagnostics
02

Fuel system repair

Pressure codes, contamination and low power. A failed high-pressure pump sends debris downstream, so we check the whole system.

03

Injector repair

Rough idle, a miss and smoke on Ford, GM and Ram engines. We test before we replace, because one bad injector does not always mean a full set.

Diesel injector repair
04

Injection pump repair

P7100 and VP44 on older Cummins, CP3 and CP4 on common-rail engines. Hard starts and pressure codes often point here.

05

Turbo repair

No boost, underboost, a new whistle or a VGT that sticks. We find out why it failed before fitting a Garrett or Holset replacement.

Diesel turbo repair
06

Emissions system repair

DPF, EGR, SCR and DEF faults and failed regens. When a DPF plugs, we find out what is feeding it soot, whether that is an injector, the turbo or an EGR fault. We do not do delete work.

07

Transmission repair

Slipping, overheating and a flashing tow/haul light. We do a lot of transmission work, including the Allison behind most Duramax engines.

08

Engine repair

Head gasket and head stud work and diesel engine repair.

Pre-purchase inspection

The same symptom means different things on different engines

A hard start on a 7.3 Powerstroke and a hard start on a 6.7 Cummins share a complaint and almost nothing else. We test with current OEM factory scan tools, so the testing fits the engine in front of us.

  • Powerstroke: 6.0 head studs, EGR coolers and oil coolers
  • Duramax: LB7 injector failures and the LML's CP4 pump
  • Cummins: Holset turbo work and death wobble in the solid front axle
Group 2 / Truck repair

Truck repair services

We handle everything mechanical on a truck except body and paint.

10

Overheating and cooling

Radiators, coolant leaks and the truck that only runs hot pulling a trailer up a grade.

Truck overheating repair
11

Steering and suspension

Death wobble, loose steering, worn front-end parts and heavy-duty suspension. We find the part that started the shake.

Truck suspension repair
12

Lift kit installation

Lift kits and suspension upgrades, set up so the truck still tracks straight and steers right afterward.

4x4 and transfer case

Four-wheel drive that will not engage, a grinding transfer case, axle trouble and driveline clunks.

14

A/C and heating

No cold air in July or no heat in January. We diagnose the whole climate system.

15

Brakes

Pads, rotors and the heavier brake work a truck that tows and hauls goes through.

American gas trucks and SUVs

Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, Ram 1500, Tahoe and Suburban, on the same OEM-level equipment. We are not a passenger car shop.

How it works / what drives cost

Diagnosis first, then a plan you approve

Call with the symptoms and any codes. Most diagnosis and repair is drop-off, and a typical diagnosis takes 24 to 72 hours depending on workload.

We diagnose the problem you brought in, then evaluate the rest of the truck. You hear what needs attention now and what can wait. No work is done without your approval. The table shows what moves the bill.

What drives costWhy it matters
Platform and generationAccess differs by engine, so the same repair can take very different labor hours.
Root cause or symptomA pump that sent debris through the injectors makes a bigger job than the pump alone.
How long it was drivenSlipping and overheating get worse with every mile.
Part choiceOE and upgraded parts cost different amounts, and we explain the tradeoff.
Shared teardownCombining repairs that come apart together saves paying twice for labor.
Colorado conditions

What the Front Range does to a truck

Towing and the I-70 grades

West of the shop the road climbs fast. A loaded truck pulling a camper up I-70 runs hot coolant, hot transmission fluid and high exhaust temperatures for miles. A cooling system that is fine around town gets found out on that climb.

Altitude and boost

There is less air at elevation, so the turbo works harder for the same boost. A small leak or a sticky VGT can feel fine in town and fall flat on a pass.

Cold starts

Winter mornings test glow plugs, grid heaters, batteries and fuel that can gel. Newer trucks also heat the DEF system, and a failed heater sets a fault the first cold week.

Worth the driveOwners come down the hill and in from as far as Fort Collins, Fort Morgan and Colorado Springs, usually for the failure their local shop could not solve rather than an oil change.
